About

The philosophy of Magical Glow Photography

Inge Fernau was born in Germany, and has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1977. Much of her professional career has been in chemistry, bringing her formidable knowledge of chemistry to process engineering at a variety of local companies. However, she has always had a passion for nature photography. Her early forays into photography was with simple, unsophisticated point and shoot cameras, but starting in the mid 1980s, she began to become more serious about her craft, investing time in training her eye, as well as in purchasing improved equipment.

Inge’s vision and goal are to capture the magnificance of nature, the majestic glow of the mountains, and to share it with others by showing them images of places the couldn’t otherwise visit. Although Inge enjoys creating images of all things found in nature (as is evidenced by the galleries), the Easter Sierra Nevada mountains are a particular favorite. The color show that unfolds in the fall changing of the foliage have captured her heart and soul.

Inge’s challenge has been to capture on the sensor what she sees in her eyes. You be the judge on how successful she is at the transformation of vision into images. Inge is not afraid to toss her gear in the car and make an early trek to capture ideal lighting and conditions at sunrise, sunset, or any time of day that provides that special illumination.

As Inge’s proficiency increased, and her coworkers discovered her images, the clamoring for prints became enough that Inge has assembled these galleries, and this presence on the web. Please browse around and enjoy the sights.

Inge plans to continue her search for the perfect photo. We hope you enjoy the ride. Inge currently uses a variety of Canon professional grade SLR digital cameras, and an assortment of their outstanding L series lenses. She shoots all her shots in RAW mode, and does minimal work in Photoshop besides setting resolution, and checking color balances.
